Dear Friends & Members,

 

We are writing to inform you of upcoming changes within our company that will take effect on April 1, 2022. But first, we would like to thank you for your business and support. We have been in operation and a part of the community, for 8+ years, because of amazing members like you.

CrossFit Tarpon Springs started in August of 2013 to change the lives of others and to support individuals through their health and fitness journey. Our mission has always been the same; we want you to leave the gym everyday feeling stronger, healthier, and happier than you were when you walked in. As a result of our core mission and vision, we started Better Than Yesterday Bootcamp in 2015 to provide classes that are scalable for individuals of any fitness level. Our Better Than Yesterday Bootcamp has been a valuable program that supports our mission while providing training that is challenging and helps members continue to make progress towards their goals.

What is changing?

CrossFit Tarpon Springs will be changing business names and merging into our Better Than Yesterday Bootcamp. This means that we will be offering 1 group fitness program that provides a 60-minute programmed workout daily.

Additionally, we are adding Open Gym time after class for 15-minutes to focus on additional muscle building exercises. We will provide programming for Open Gym time to offer ideas and recommendations on fundamental strength movements to be done at your own pace. CrossFit Tarpon Springs will now be known as Palm Harbor Strength & Conditioning.

Why are these changes being made?

Change is good and change is inevitable. Over the last few years, we have noticed various external and internal influences that need our attention and ability to adapt in order to continue on our mission. Therefore, we have decided to evolve to serve our community and our appreciated members better. It is always our goal to deliver and exceed expectations; therefore, we must revamp our company’s service offerings.

Some of the factors that have weighed into our decision include the following:

  • Our metrics show that CrossFit classes are not being utilized enough for us to continue providing the care and support that it needs. As an affiliate of CrossFit, our company must uphold specific guidelines to continue to use the CrossFit name. Unfortunately, CrossFit keeps changing their guidelines and position as a company which has made it difficult for us to continue our affiliation with them.
  • As a CrossFit affiliate, we must abide by their rules and decisions which has become a disservice to our changing business needs. Not having control over what we offer in our sessions has negatively impacted our members experience and satisfaction at times.
  • CrossFit programming involves some of the most technical and challenging movements including barbell Olympic weightlifting. The movements are very difficult to teach and finding coaches that can properly demonstrate and preserve the safety of our members is becoming much harder to find. More so, we have noticed that our members already have so much going on in their life outside of the gym they are fatigued and stressed. The combination of these factors raises the risk of injury when trying to develop highly technical moves when mentally exhausted!
  • Most people are “scared of CrossFit” and they have no idea what CrossFit really is. Therefore, the Better Than Yesterday Bootcamp side of our business continues to grow. Through conversations, we have learned that our Bootcampers are looking for more weight training options, and we have developed a new concept to support weight training for all members in a safe, nurturing and fun environment.

What does this mean for you?

Starting April 1st, 2022, the new programming concept will be implemented and active. Our class check-in platform, WODTogether, will reflect the new class schedule for all members that includes our coach-led, 60-minute, bootcamp workout with 15-minutes after class for Open Gym.

Here are the new class times:

Morning            Afternoon/Evening

5:00am             12:30pm

6:15am             3:00pm

7:30am             4:15pm

8:45am             5:30pm

10:00am           6:45pm

11:15am           8:00pm

You will find the Open Gym weight training programming on the former CrossFit side of the whiteboard. Coaches will be present to answer general questions during Open Gym time, but they will also be working on member sign-ups, merchandise/supplement check-outs and might use the opportunity to use the facilities or eat a quick snack! Thanks in advance for your understanding.

Will our membership price be changing?

All current memberships will be adjusted to our Foundation Member pricing of $130. It will be charged on your usual monthly billing date starting in April. Instead of offering various subscription prices that tend to cause confusion, we have realized that it would be easier for everyone to have 1 month-to-month price. For any new members that are starting in April, the pricing will be a comparable $155 per month. Any cancelled membership that wants to rejoin is subject to the new pricing that is being offered at the time of re-joining.

Will you be adding new benefits?

Yes! We are looking forward to helping our members get the most out of their time at our gym and will be adding various Coach-led workshops to deep-dive into understanding and improving on technical moves. We will have workshops for pull-ups, muscle-ups, Olympic weightlifting, double-unders, rowing, and so much more! Members will have a chance to sign-up in advance and each workshop will have a limited number of spots available. Depending on the type of workshop, attendance will be limited to 5-10 people and the cost will vary from $10-$20.

Additionally, through the new Palm Harbor Strength & Conditioning re-brand, we will continue to offer and develop our Personal Training program that helps you work 1-on-1 with a coach to reach your specific health and fitness goals. Behind-the-scenes, we have been working on various, exciting events and promotions for the rest of the year. From supporting our local community by working with charities for fundraising to member-only events for offsite weekend workouts and themed workouts throughout the year.
